Flips was the first short film I ever made. Before this, I made different skits or promotional videos, but this was the first official short film. It was a great experience and kicked off my passion for filmmaking. It was a final project for my senior year. I was able to film a couple of scenes at school with the help of my classmates but unfortunately had to finish school and this project from home due to a family emergency. As a result, the production value of Flips was not as good as I hoped. I had to work around a lot of the original writing because it was based inside a school and classrooms. I also had to film entirely on my own and figure out how to jerry-rig my tracking shots with different filming tools I had. It was an incredible learning experience that I will never forget. I think its safe to say I have improved since this film and it’s a good reminder of where I started.
